Helps to understand the bounce rate metric system and how it works and affects how to understand analytics for a website.mikehttp://www.branovercontractors.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18012046.post-90358706485182398872010-01-08T11:09:03.499-08:002010-01-08T11:09:03.499-08:00Great post with intesting data - I agree with you....Great post with intesting data - I agree with you. Really the point of a bounce metric is to measure success/failure when the goal is an engagement of more than the entry page.

In your example, the success metric is single-page visits, thus it is not really a bounce rate as it is commonly defined. It is more of a success event rate and should be looked as such.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18012046.post-72653455142199654742010-01-08T08:27:43.921-08:002010-01-08T08:27:43.921-08:00I've been working on a way to calculate time o...I've been working on a way to calculate time on pages for high bounce rate pages - basically finding a way to get a time on page interval for single page views: http://www.webproject.ualberta.ca/Resources/GoogleAnalytics/CalculatingTimeOnPageForSinglePageviews.aspxTim Schneiderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04143785515957573663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18012046.post-32140398847930878252010-01-08T06:51:54.436-08:002010-01-08T06:51:54.436-08:00Hi Anil.
Context is everything for bounce rate......Hi Anil.

Context is everything for bounce rate... for any metric that is, but bounce rate maybe even more :)

When I came out with the real bounce rate hack ( http://padicode.com/blog/analytics/the-real-bounce-rate/ ) it was because of the challenge of understanding this metric better when analyzing a content delivery website.

Once I had a page with a very high bounce rate but also a very good $index (Google $index metric). I had a hard time convincing the managers that that page was, in fact, performing quite well.Claudiu Murariuhttp://padicode.com/blog/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18012046.post-82385071939453778042010-01-08T05:40:28.048-08:002010-01-08T05:40:28.048-08:00Great post Anil. What's interesting in your example is as your SEO improve, your content becomes highly searchable and more likely to answer the specific objective your visitor had in mind - thus increasing bounce rate!

As I mentioned in one of my recent posts, critical thinking is always important. There are only a few universal truth in life, "bounce rate" certainly isn't one of them! :)

StéphaneStéphane Hamelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10573779479865639459noreply@blogger.com
